aboutME

I called Northern Michigan University my home for my Bachelor's degree. I obtained my Visual Arts Education(LQ) K-12 with a concentration in Electronic Imaging in 2007 after student teaching K-12 at Goodman-Armstrong Creek School District.

My next two years were dedicated to AmeriCorps*Vista and creating a solid after school infrastructure at 3 districts in Northern Menominee County. This was followed by an incredibly rewarding Yearbook Coordinator position with Lakeshore Photography. It was during this time I learned how to manage teaching to all of our participating schools on the eastern side of the UP via online and many road trips.

In 2010, I was hired by Iron Mountain-Kingsford Community schools to be their new art educator. I began teaching art at Bishop Baraga Catholic School, East Side High Alternative High School and the Adult Education Program. After 4 years of teaching at all three locations, I accepted a year long, full time position as Kitchen Designer at Home Depot, never leaving my position with BBCS.

I began my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction  through Concordia University in March 2015 with an emphasis on eLearning/Technology. One year later I completed my education and beginning in 2017, I added Technology to my schedule while becoming a member of the Trustey STEM Teaching Fellowship at the University of Notre Dame.

I can honestly say, this fellowship has given me the tools to fully embrace honoring the integrity of the individual. The fellowship is a three year commitment to Notre Dame, our school, staff, families and each other. Great STEM things are happening at BBCS!
